The teaching of logic in terms of principles, methods and techniques in secondary education

In this study the teaching of logic in terms of principles, methods and techniques in secondary education has been evaluated in various aspects.In the first part, the problem, the aim of the research, its importance and the method have been stated.In the second part, the foundation of logic as a science and its history, its relation with the other sciences, its definition and subject matter have been discussed. Moreover, the importance of logic and its teaching and the relation between logic-language-thought have been highlighted.In the third part,after the overall picture of the teaching of logic in Turkish Educational System has been given, the appearance of logic in educational programmes since 1924 has been thoroughly examined. Furthermore, the purpose, the contents and the units of syllabi from the days of the Republic until our time have been examined comparatively and a general evaluation has been made. The current programme of logic teaching has been evaluated in terms of programme development.In the fourth part, how to plan the teaching of logic and the selection of logic books have been stated.In the fifth part, teaching strategies, learning models, teaching methods and techniques to be used in the teaching of logic in secondary education in terms of principles, methods and techniques have been examined. The usage of materials in the teaching of logic has also been mentioned.In the sixth part, assessment and evaluation in logic teaching, the features of assessment tools, the assessment of cognitive and affective behaviours, the assessment techniques, evaluation and grading in logic teaching have all been mentioned.At the end of the study some results have been obtained as regards the teaching of logic, these results have been discussed and some suggestions have been made.
