This thesis has been done to determine the active word power of the 5th grade-secodary school students in written expression in working environment. In order to determine the word power of the students, 57 of 5th grade students in the district of Akçakent in Kırşehir province were made to write 171 texts in total in three different types. (fables, memoir, free style) The words in the obtained date were analyzed according to the students' genderand three different types. As as result of this review a total of 12.595 word shave been identified and 1.653 of these word shave been identified as type words and 10.942 of it have been identified as there petition of these words. In terms of gender, it has been observed that female students were more successful than male students in the total use of word. Interms of types it has been observed that the students used more words in fables, memoir, free style respectively. Word lists were generated according to the types at the end of the study.
