Within this research the effect of the role play approach to the sixth grade students for visual arts education.The contribution of the role play approach to the creativity of the child is raised in this study. Strategic approaches and techniques, Visual Arts Education, Creativity, Child Artworks, basic design issues and interrelations of these subjects are analyzed in sections. Under consideration of acquisitions stated in Primary school curriculum, creativity evaluation criteria, which measures basic design and elements approved by three experts, are prepared. The artworks of the children are graded by the experts.For the study, the data are grouped into two, the first one is experiment group and the second one is control group. The data are analyzed by the utilization of SPSS 16.0. Question analysis and reliability analysis are applied on the survey data. After the utilization normalcy test, equivalence of the means of the samples is tested by t-test. In this context, the artworks of the sixth grade students are statistically evaluated and the effect of the role play approach is observed.In the evaluation section, the artworks of the children are evaluated with the aim of determination of the method and the degree of the reflection of the creativity of the children. After the evaluations it is determined that role play approach has contribution to the students? creativity. The importance of the creativity attained with art education and the contribution of this gain to the children?s artwork is emphasized.Key Words: Art, visual art education, creativity, kids painting, basic design, role play.
