The effect of digital storytelling use on 6th class students' achievements, attitude and scientific process skills

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of digital story use related cells topic on students' achievements, attitude and scientific process skills. The study was designed as quasi-experimental research. The study group of the research is consisted 42 middle school students, who were in 6th grades Şenpazar and İnebolu İmam Hatip middle schools in Kastamonu. In this study Cell Concept Test, Scientific Process Skills Test, Science and Technology Attitude Scale were conducted as data collection tools. The obtained data were analyzed with SPSS 22.0 package program. Besides, semi-structured interviews were also conducted with the students of experimental group and in the analysis of the data, descriptive analysis was used. As a result of the analysis of the data acquired in the research, in the post test score of Cell Concept Test and the Scientific Process Skills Scale there is a significant difference found in favor of the experimental group compared to the post test scores between the experimental and control groups. This shows that; The use of digital story has become more effective in enhancing the academic achievement and scientific process skills of students compared to traditional teaching methods. The results of the Science and Technology Attitude Test shows that digital teaching and traditional teaching method influence the attitudes of students to science class in the same way. At the end of the study, suggestions about the use of the digital story in class and future applications are given.
