A research on the compatibility of t she pictures with the texts in the secondary school 6th grade Turkish course book and its suitability for the student age level

The aim of the research is to examine the Ata publishing 6th grade Turkish textbook within the framework of the provisions of the Ministry of National Education Textbooks and Educational Tools Regulation, to determine the level of compatibility of the pictures in the book with the text, and to reveal the suitability of the pictures to the age and development charecteristicsof the students. The pictures in the textbooks, which contain text and activites for the achievements determined in the curriculum, must be appropriate to the student's level and readiness. It is known that these visual elements, which causepositive emotional reactionsvon students with their aestheic aspect, serve to make diffucult consepts understandable in textbooks and to expand the contect presented in the text. In addition to helping studensts acquire knowledge, there is also evidence that pictures improve their cognitive skills. The effect of each selected Picture on the student is greater than expected. For this reason, it is of particular importance to examine the textbooks, review every detail in the book, and test their suitability for students. In addition to the controls and inspections carried out during the preparation of textbooks and the granting of permission by the Ministry, the implementation process also needs to be evaluted. This research is limited to 6th grade students studying in İdil district of Şırnak province and the 6th grade Turkish textbook published by Ata publishing. The pictures in the book were examine according to the scale to be developed based on the criteria in the Ministry of Education's Textbooks and Educational Tools Regulation.
