The evaluation of the teachers opinions on the effectiveness of the 7th class Science and Techonology lesson in terms of environmental training: The example of Bingöl

The aim of this research is to evaluate the opinions of the 7th class Science and Technology teachers about the effectiveness of this lesson in terms of environmental training. This research is based on the qualitative research method. The data have been obtained through the interview method during the research. Semi-constructed interview forms have been used for the interviews. This interview form has consisted of five questions. The research has been carried out by the participation of the 20 teachers of 7th class Science and Technology. The data have been analyzed using the content analysis method of the NVivo9 qualitative data analysis programme. At the end of the research, it has been observed that most of these teachers find the gainings and subjects of the 7th grade Science and Technology lesson insufficient in terms of the environmental training. There are also some data such as creating environmental awareness and raising sensitive individuals about the environment in terms of the environmental training and the subjects such as the environmental problems and environmental pollution are insufficient and these subjects can at the same time be ideal subjects for the environmental training and although the teachers carry out a lot of activities about the environmental training, they still want to do more activities and they face a lot of problems during the activities both inside and outside the classroom circumstances, methods such as question and answer and direct explanation are used during the environmental training and the teachers use traditional and alternative measurement and evaluation methods. It has also been observed that the students, the teachers, the school administration, local and national administration, non-governmental organizations and the families have an important role in terms of the environmental training. A model suggestion has been created by making use of the theoretical knowledge and the research findings about the environmental training.
