Abstract (EN)
Nomofobine, which is a form of technological addiction and defined as the fear of being deprived of a smartphone, is thought to show itself in young people with the spread of mobile phone use. The aim of this study is to determine the levels of panic (Nomophobia) that middle school 8th grade students will experience in case of communication with smart phones. The effects of panic levels on the academic achievement of middle school 8th grade students were investigated by comparing the determined Nomophobia levels with the LGS (High School Exam) scores. These effects and LGS scores are gender, parental attitude, parental education status, life status with the parent, the purpose of using the smartphone, the frequency of daily smartphone control, whether to carry a charger, the areas where the smartphone is mostly used, and the smartphone before sleeping. whether or not it has been examined in terms of variables. For this purpose, relational screening model was used in the study. The study population of the study was composed of 8th grade students studying in Nilüfer district of Bursa in 2019-2020 academic year. Personal information form and Nomophobia scale were applied to these students. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 21.0 program and nonparametric tests were used in statistical evaluations since the sample of the research did not provide the necessary conditions for parametric tests. Correlation between scores obtained from the nomophobia scale and LGS scores. Spearman Rho correlation; Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H tests were used for comparisons according to demographic variables. According to the results of the research; While it is seen that nomophobia in secondary school students differs according to gender, the purpose of using the smartphone, the areas where the smartphone is mostly used, whether they have a charger or not, and whether they have a smartphone before sleeping or not. It was revealed that it did not differ according to parental attitude, parental education level, frequency of daily smartphone control. While the status of life with the parent was excluded from the analysis due to insufficiency of the sample, it was determined that the students had moderate nomophobia and the nomophobia subscale scores differed according to LGS scores. Research findings were interpreted in line with the results in the literature, and suggestions for this application and future research were developed.
