Analysis of middle school sixth grade social studies textbook's texts in terms of sensitivity of cultural heritage

The purpose of the research is to examine the value of the cultural heritage sensitivity of the 6th grade Social Studies textbook prepared by the Ministry of Education used in the academic year of 2017-2018. The study group of the research is building the 6th grade social studies textbook prepared by Sevgi Publications which was taught in the academic year of 2017-2018. In order to collect the data, the relevant literature has been examined in order to be suitable for the research and the qualitative research methods have been used with the document analysis technique and the survey design. In the analysis of the data, content analysis was used. After the texts in the social studies textbook were scanned, texts with cultural heritage sensitivity values were identified. Selected texts were recorded directly by quotation. These texts were then analyzed in terms of cultural heritage sensitivity values. The results are as follows; cultural and heritage learning areas, cultural and heritage elements have been given very little in other learning areas outside the cultural and heritage learning field. In the learning field of cultural heritage, moreover, cultural and heritage elements have been adequately included and visual and literary texts have been given in detail and in accordance with the student's level. Generally speaking, it has been observed that the book emphasizes Turkish cultural items throughout the book, and the cultural values that have changed and changed from the past to the present. As a result of the analyzes made, it has been understood that there are very few places in cultural heritage elements in learning areas outside culture and heritage learning area. On the other hand, in the field of culture and heritage learning, the elements of cultural heritage are given more and more detailed visual and literary texts suitable for the student level are given. In general, it has been observed that Turkish culture items have been given importance throughout the book, and present and changing cultural values have been included in the book.
