Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to investigate the shape formation levels of middle school 5th grade students. Qualitative research method has been adopted in the collection, analysis and interpretation of the research data. The research was conducted in the 2017-2018 academic year by conducting clinical interviews with five fifth grade students who were selected for purposeful sampling in a public school in Gebze, Kocaeli. In the clinical interview, 16 questions were posed according to 7 levels: pre-composer, piece assembler, picture maker, shape composer, substation composer, shape composite iterater and shape composer with superordinate units. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the students who used the trial and error in the shape composition levels of the students had lower levels of shape composition than the students who were determined and know what to do. However, students who use transformational movements consciously compared to students who use random, students who form the shape in different combinations with different parts, or those who form less differently, those who apply the process of making a prediction-drawing-shape in any question. It was concluded that they are higher levels. In addition, it is important to conclude that those who use different shapes in creating or maintaining patterns are at a higher level than those who cannot use them and that using multiple shapes is higher than those who use one shape.
