Abstract (EN)

In the 21st century, there is an incredible speed in the increase of knowledge, depending on the developing technology. In order to become qualified consumers of information in this environment where information and information access tools increase and diversify, individuals need to be equipped with information literacy skills. Educational institutions also have great responsibility for gaining information literacy skills. From the proverb of "you can't teach an old dog new tricks", it will be easier for individuals to acquire the skills they need to exist in the information age at a young age. With this in mind, the research was conducted on 6th grade students. The aim of the study is to provide information literacy education to 6th grade students in a specified number of secondary schools and to show the importance of information literacy education at the secondary school level and to contribute to the preparation of a qualified information literacy program. A series of programs were carried out on the sample group in order to determine the status of the secondary school students and to improve the recommendations regarding the information literacy levels. Preliminary and final tests in the information literacy program were used to obtain data on implementation results. The pre-test was done to both experimental and observation groups. At the end of 7 chapters which make up the information literacy program, the students who make up the experimental group were given the end-of-term test. At the end of the information literacy program, the final test was applied to both the experimental and the control groups. Descriptive method was used in the analysis and evaluation of the obtained data. Source scanning method was used in the theoretical parts of the research. The results of the tests confirmed the assumption that the main hypothesis of the study is there will be a significant difference between the students who receive and do not have information literacy education.
