Relationship between academic support and school life satisfaction of secondary and high school students

Abstract (EN)
The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the perceptions of academic support of secondary and high school students and their school life satisfaction levels. In addition, it was aimed to determine the level of academic support perceived by students from their parents, teachers and friends and how these support types affect students' level of satisfaction with school life. In the research, descriptive, causal, comparative and relational models were used together. The universe of the research consists of 2183 students studying in schools that provide secondary and high school education in Darende district center of Malatya province. The sample of the study consists of 972 students selected from the schools in the district center by the stratified sampling method. "Academic Support Scale" and "Multidimensional Student Life Satisfaction Scale (ÇÖYDÖ) were used as data collection tools. Descriptive statistics, t test, variance analysis and simple regression analysis were used to analyze the obtained data. As a result of the findings, it was determined that the students received the most support from their teachers and then from their parents and friends. It was determined that middle school students perceive their parents and teachers more supportive than high school students, while high school students perceive their friends more supportively. However, it was concluded that secondary school students' school life satisfaction levels were higher. It was determined that female students perceive their teachers and friends more supportive than male students and get more satisfaction from their school life. In the analyzes made according to the class level variable, it was determined that the academic support and school life satisfaction levels decreased as the grade level increased in both secondary and high school students. According to the results of the analysis made according to the grade point variable, it was determined that the perceived academic support and school life satisfaction increased as the grade point average increased. It was determined that parent support, friend support and teacher support were significant predictors of the level of school life satisfaction, and these three variables explained approximately 26% of the change in school life satisfaction.
