Abstract (EN)
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the questions in the secondary school mathematics textbook according to MATH taxonomy groups and categories. Method: Qualitative research method and document analysis model were used in the study. MEB publications secondary school fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade mathematics textbooks were examined as documents End-of-chapter evaluation, end-of-unit evaluation and reinforcement of the fifth grade book; subject evaluation and unit evaluation of the sixth grade book; It's your turn in the seventh grade book, outcome comprehension, unit evaluation and skill-based questions; The questions in the unit evaluation, unsolved questions and let's apply sections of the eighth grade book were examined according to the MATH taxonomy. The questions in the textbook were classified according to MATH taxonomy by taking expert opinion. According to the evaluation results, the agreement rate (reliability coefficient) between the mathematics field education expert and the researcher was calculated as 0,88. Results: When the MATH taxonomy group distribution of secondary school mathematics fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade textbook questions is examined, there are the most questions in group A, then in group B, and at least in group C. It is seen that all textbooks contain the most A3 category questions according to their categories. Conclusion and Suggestions: It was concluded that the textbook questions at all grade levels did not show a balanced distribution according to MATH taxonomy groups and categories. It is recommended that the questions in the textbooks have a more balanced distribution.
