Financial literacy practice in middle school mathematics applications course

Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted to understand the financial attitudes and mathematical achievements of students towards financial applications in the 7th grade mathematics applications course included in the 2018 Mathematics Curriculum. The analysis results show that students have a significant attitude in the financial attitude scale in the education they receive regarding financial applications: frugal sub-dimension, conscious sub-dimension, happiness sub-dimension. There was no significant change in the extravagance) and shyness sub-dimensions of the same scale. A significant change was observed in the acquisition comprehension tests and skill-based mathematics achievements of students in the education they receive with financial applications. The need to add different variables to the activite regarding financial applications in mathematics courses, the inclusion of these topics in the curriculum, such as taxes, etc. It is recommended to add variables such as contextual problems.
