The adequacy of the school musical instruments in implementing secondary school music curriculum

The purpose of this study is to investigate the place of the school musical instruments used secondary school in the curriculum of the music education and adequacy of the school musical instruments in implementing secondary school music curriculum. The research data was carried out by interviewing techniques and analyzed descriptively.Teacher interview form was used in the research.As a qualitative research interview method was applied to 25 teachers, 16 of them are women and 9 of them are men, to gather detailed and in-depth information.The population of the investigation constitutes the music teachers working atpublic schools in Kayseri province. The sample group of the studyconstitutes the music teachers working atpublic schools in Kayseri city center. In this research convenience sampling was used. In analyzing qualitative data obtained from semi-structured interviews form applied to music teacherscontent analysis technique was used and the results were interpreted. In accordance with the research findings, solutions are offered to make secondary school music instruments education more effectively and more efficiently, and to eliminate the problems encountered on this issue. After evaluating the data obtained from the applied interview form, it is concluded that instruments used in music lessons in secondary schools is inadequate in performing the curriculum, the instruments used in music lessons is too limited, teachers and students have difficulty in obtaining musical instruments for music lessonsexcept from block flute and the instruments used in the lessons increased the interest in music course. In the light of these results, it can be offered that for secondary school music education's achieving instrument training, students should be encouraged to play other school instrumentsas well as blockflute, the support of parents and the school administration should be taken to let students obtain musical instruments and students appreciation of different school instruments should be increased.
