Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is; to define students' attitude towards school, bullying, and unjust treatment among peers and then define the relation between mentioned subjects. The research method followed in this study is associational screening model of comparative research. The population of this study consists of 5818 middle school students studying at 10 different middle schools at the district of Kartepe in Kocaeli during 2015-2016 academic year. The sample of the study is framed by 640 students chosen using proportional sampling. Scale of Attitude Towards School, developed by Erktin, Okcabol and Ural (2010) and Scale of Bullying for Children developed by Pişkin and Ayas (2011) and a questionnaire prepared by the researcher have been used with the purpose of data collection. In the analysis of the data that has been collected, "frequency analysis", "percentage analysis", "arithmetic average", "standard deviation", ''Kolmogorov-Smirnov ve Shapiro-Wilk normality tests'', ''Mann-Whitney U'', "Spearman's Rank Correlation Coefficient", "Kruskal Wallis", statistical techniques have been used. Finding throughout the study could be seen here below: 1. Besides having found out that students have a high level of attitude towards school, it has also been found out that the level of bullying and unjust treatment among pupils is seen in low levels. 2. There has been found a negative relation between the levels of bullying, unjust treatment and attitude towards school, and there has been found a positive relation between the levels unjust treatment and bullying. 3. While there is a remarkable difference in favor of female students regarding students' attitude towards school and gender variable, there is a remarkable difference in favor of male students related to bullying and unjust treatment levels. 4. While there is a remarkable difference in favor of lower grade students regarding students' attitude towards school and grade variable, there is a statistically remarkable difference in favor of upper grade students related to bullying and unjust treatment. 5. While it has been found that there is a statistically remarkable difference in favor of successful students regarding students' attitude towards school and success, a statistically remarkable difference hasn't been discovered considering the levels of bullying, unjust treatment and success at school. 6. There is a sub-dimensional statistically remarkable difference in favor of students who have fewer siblings regarding students' attitude toward school and number of siblings variables, attitude towards learning and parent-school relation. There is a statistically remarkable difference with a sub-dimension of verbal bully in favor of students with rather more sibling considering bullying levels and number of siblings variable. There is a statistically remarkable difference with sub-dimension of physical and verbal victim in favor of students with a higher number of siblings regarding unjust treatment among peers and number of the siblings. 7. There is a statistically remarkable difference in favor of students' whose families have a high level of income regarding the level of attitude towards school, unjust treatment among pupils and family income variable. There has been found a remarkable difference with the sub-dimension of verbal bullying in favor of students' whose families have a high level of income considering the levels of bullying and family income. 8. There is not a statistically remarkable difference between the levels of attitude towards school, bullying, unjust treatment among pupils and parents' educational background.
