Abstract (EN)

Aim: In this study, it is aimed to examine the relationship between digital game addiction and internet addiction social problem-solving skills in secondary school students. Material and Method: Descriptive survey model was used in the study. The sample of the study was found in the 2021-2022 academic year in Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt districts of Malatya province in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades attending secondary schools affiliated to National Education. There are a total of 418 children attending the class. At the stage of collecting quantitative data; The Internet Addiction Scale for Children developed by Taş in order to measure children's internet addiction, the Digital Game Addiction Scale in Children developed by Hazar and Hazar to measure children's digital game addiction levels, and the Problem Solving Inventory for Children at Primary Education Level (EAP) developed by Serin, Serin and Saylı were used to measure children's problem-solving skill levels. Demographic Information Form was used to collect demographic information in order to collect qualitative data. Results: While the internet addiction levels and digital game addiction levels of the sample group were below the medium level, it was determined that the social problem solving skills were at the medium level. When looking at the gender factor, there was no significant difference in internet addiction and social problem solving skills, while it was determined that male students' addiction levels were higher in digital game addiction than female students. When the educational status and working status of the parents were examined, no significant difference was found. Conclusion: It was found that internet addiction and digital game addiction increased as the internet usage time increased, and as a result, social problem solving skills were significantly affected.
