Self efficacy and narcissism in secondary school students

The aim of this study is to investigate whether the relationship between self-efficacy levels and narcissism levels of secondary school students and students' self-efficacy levels and the levels of narcissism differ significantly according to gender, age, number of siblings, academic achievement, mother's educational status and father's educational status. The study group consists of 299 students from different secondary schools in Yalova. Of the 299 students participating in the study, 162 (54.2%) are male and 137 (45.8%) are female. Personal Information Form, Self-Efficacy Scale for Children and Childhood Narcissism Scale were used as data collection tools. The data were analyzed using correlation analysis, one-way variance analysis, Welch test and unbound sample t-test. The correlation between the two variables was found to be positive and statistically significant in terms of the correlations between the levels of self-efficacy and narcissism of the secondary school students. As a result of the t-test, it was found that the levels of self-efficacy of male and female students were not statistically significant, but the levels of narcissism were statistically significant. The results of one-way variance analysis to determine whether the students have significant differences in the age ranges in terms of self-efficacy and narcissism, showed that the students had significant differences in their self-efficacy compared to the age ranges, but there was no significant differences in the age ranges in terms of narcissism levels. The results of Welch test to determine whether the students who constituted the study group had significant differences in the number of siblings in their level of self-efficacy and narcissism, found that the students ' self-efficacy differ significantly from the number of siblings, but the one-way analysis showed that the level of narcissism did not differ significantly from the number of siblings. The results of the one-way analysis of variance based on the academic achievement status of the students showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the self-efficacy scores of the students with different academic achievement status, and that there was no statistically significant difference between the narcissistic scores of the Welch Test. Again in the research, it was found that self-efficacy and narcissism levels of secondary school students did not differ according to their parents' educational status.
