Perception of secondary school stundents about historical significance of history of science topics

The aim of this research is to investigate views of secondary school students perceptions about historical significance of science history and try to ıf there is relationship between age, sex, grade and What are the criteria for determining historical significance of secondary students. To gain the aim of the research quantitative and qualitative research methods were used together. The Instrument for Determining the history of science subjects significance of history regarding remark survey and semi-structured interview were used together as data collection tool. 860 students data which were collected from students were searched for quantitatively. Purposefully sampling method was applied for to select 108 students from secondary school students for qualitatively. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 15.00 and quantitative data were evaluated by systematic analysis. The results showed that there are significant differences according to relationship between age, sex, grade and determinig signifiance of history criteria. When decided to the views of the students; scientific occaison, figure and case situaiton signifiance of history criteria, they make an application own life, mankind, history of science and academic success provide to benefits have taken into consideration. Also students decided to signifiance of history criteria any scientific event, take advantage of ''Curiosity'' feeling. Within this context six categories were defined: Profundity, Signifiance, Curiosity, Groundbreaking, Persistence and Amount. Also The result showed that Students are most preferred scientific subject; The discovery of the manuscript, The discovery of fire, The invention of television, The invention of the Wheel and The invention of computer.
