Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to design and examine the effectiveness of teaching materials that can enrich the views of middle school students about the role of imagination and creativity in scientific research process. The study was conducted in a village secondary school in Çayeli District of Rize Province. In the study, which uses special case study method within the scope of qualitative research approach, eight activities were designed by the researcher towards the imaginative and creative nature of science. After the activities were finalized with expert opinion and after an activity was removed as a result of the pilot activities, the remaining 7 activities were applied to the working group in the other branch of the same school. The data were collected with 4 open-ended questions, semi-structured interviews and reflective articles written by the students after each activity in the Nature of Science Student Questionnaire, which were suggested to measure imaginative and creative nature in the process of producing scientific knowledge. The Nature of Science The Student Questionnaire and subsequent interviews were administered to participants twice, at the beginning and at the end of the application. By using the qualitative data collected in this way, pre-end profiles of the participants regarding the nature of the related science were formed. Each profile was classified using three-stage categories ategor sufficient, variable and weak an used in similar studies. With this study, it was concluded that the opinions of the participants whose initial views on the imaginary and creative nature of science were analyzed as "weak i increased to" sufficient oranında level by 60% at the end of the applications. In line with these results, it can be argued that although the designed activities do not reveal the greater impact expected in the participants' views on the role of imagination and creativity in the process of producing scientific knowledge, they can still be considered as successful in terms of many heterogeneous working groups.
