Investigation of the ideal physical education teacher perceptions of the secondary school students

Investigation of the Ideal Physical Education Teacher Perceptions of the Secondary School Students Aim: The aim of this study is to examine the perceptions of middle school students about ideal physical education teachers. Material and Method: In the study, the "Ideal Physical Education Teacher Perceptions Scale of Secondary School Students" developed by the researcher was applied to secondary school students and they were asked to complete a question sentence and draw a picture. The sample of the research consisted of 530 students in secondary schools affiliated to Malatya Provincial Directorate of National Education in the 2019-2020 academic year. Results: It was found that the perceptions of secondary school students were higher in male students than female students, there was a decrease from positive to negative as the grade level and age increased, the perceptions of licensed sportsmen were highly positive, and female physical education teachers were perceived more positively. The ideal physical education teacher perceptions of secondary school students were highly positive, from high to low; athlete, strong and strong, needed person, guide, knowledgeable, loved, motivating, nurturing and shaping, entertaining, authoritative, disliked, respectful and fair. Conclusion: It has been concluded that the perceptions of secondary school students are very positive, they expect them to feel close, to be teachers who guide, encourage and motivate them. It can be suggested to ensure that students' perceptions can reach a "very high" level, to examine metaphors containing negative perceptions, to investigate the causes of these perceptions, and to conduct studies with different samples.
