Metaphorical percepsions of secondary school students about root values

Phenomenology which is one of the qualitative research patterns is used in this study in order to gather and interpret data which is aimed to detect the metaphors the secondary school students use to express perceptions for the values justice, friendship, honesty, self control patience, love, respect, responsibility, patriotism and heplfulness. The study is carried out with the participation of 500 secondary school students in the central district of a province in the west of Eastern Anatolia in the 2019-2020 education year. The study findings were obtained through a semi configured survey which was prepared by the researcher. Content anaylsis method was used in the analysis and evaluation of gathered data. According to the findings from the research, the value which the middle school students produce the most metaphor is friendship; the value in which the most concept error and the most problems they have producing metaphor is self control. It has been detected that some of the students participating the survey have negative perception for the values such as justice, friendship, honesty, patience, love, respect and helpfulness.
