Secondary school students views on the historical series of the ottoman period

Historical series are amog the popular TV productions of today and are being watched with interest. The series reflect the social structure, culture and human relations of that period. Therefore, historical series allow comparison between past and future. Recently the historical series of the Ottoman period Diriliş Ertuğrul and Payitaht Abdülhamid series are vision. Students watch these series with interest in the Ottoman period. The aim of this study is to reveal the views of middle school students about historical series of Ottoman period. Screening model was used in the research. The universe of the study is composed of all secondary schools in Sapanca district of Sakarya province in the 2018-2019 academic year, and a total 153 students, 72 girls and 81 boys, whose sample follows the historical sequences of the Ottoman period from these secondary scholls to the 7th and 8th graded. During the data collection process, the survey and open ended questions prepared by the researcher with expert opinion were applied and the survey data were analyzed in SPSS 23 program. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, t test. Open ended questions were subjected to descriptive analysis. Answer given are collected under spesific themes. The majority of the students watch the series Diriliş Ertuğrul. In this case, the contribution of the battle scenes seems to be too much. 7th and 8 th grade "to enjoy watching historical sequences of Ottoman period", "to increase interest in history", "notable words used in sequences", "love of homeland, nation, flag" and " Ottoman state to admire" the items stand out.
