Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine the aims of the social media use and the attitudes of secondary school students' towards social media use whether there are meaningful differences with regard to their gender, age, class level and school type. The sample of research is 500 students who are studying in state and private secondary schools in Küçükçekmece province of İstanbul. Quantitative research methods were preferred and a descriptive model was utilized for this study. A questionnaire which included in personal information form and social media attitude scale were used to collect data. In data analysis, SPSS 21.0 statistical program was used. According to the findings of the study, students use social media more to communicate with their friends and the attitudes of the students' towards social media use were found meaningful regarding gender, age, class level and school type.
