The effets of using geographical signs on academic success in the teaching of the middle scholl 6th grade social sciences unit of the resources of our country

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of using the Geographical Signs of the Resources of Your unit in the Social Studies course in the 6th Grade School on the success of the students. In the study, experimental design model was preferred as the research model and the achievement test created by the researcher was used as a data collection tool. The study group consisted of 60 students from two different classes in the second semester of 2012-2013 academic year of one secondary school in Kastamonu city center. The economic and social levels of the students to be researched and the results of the exams taken from the courses were taken into consideration and the selected research groups were kept equal. The aim of the study is to reveal the difference between the subjects taught by using Geographical Signs and the subjects taught without using Geographical Signs in terms of the success of the course. In addition, it was aimed to make the students acquainted with the concept of Geographical Sign and to make a suggestion to include the Geographical Sign Concept in the Resources Unit of our country and to raise awareness on this issue. Based on the findings obtained from the research, it was concluded that the use of geographical signs increases the student's success. Firstly, in the 6th Grade Social Studies course, the effects of the course on Geographical Signs and on the academic success of the students without using Geographical Signs were adapted to the experimental pattern model used in the research. The data used were compiled using the pre-test and post-test with the help of the scale created by the researcher. The achievement test was applied to the students before the course and at the end of the unit and the data were evaluated with SPPS 16.0 package program. In our study, the achievement test scores of the ün Resources of our country ün unit showed significant differences between the experimental and control groups using Geographical Signs before and after the experiment, ie between the groups with and without Geographical Signs (experimental and control group). It was found that the effects of repeated measures factors on achievement test levels were significant. According to these results, it was seen that the geographical indications were included in the processing of the ları Resources of our Country'unit in order to increase the academic achievement of the students.
