Abstract (EN)
This research was fulfilled to detect the information level and awareness about disasters of seventh grade students in the secondary school. This research, which was descriptive and cross-sectional, was fulfilled with 389 students of 9 secondary schools in Sapanca. In collection of data, Descriptive Information and Disaster-Awareness Form prepared by the researchers and Disaster Data Level Test were used. In evaluation of data, Descriptive Statistic Test, Kolmogorov Smirnov Test, Anova, Student-t Test, Chi-Square Test, Continuity (Yates) Correction Test, Fisher's Exact Chi-Square Test and Pearson Correlation Test were used. The average age of the students was 12,17±0,73 and 54% of them was male. It was detected that 48,6% of the students' academic achievement was good and 29% of them was medium. It was confirmed that 82,5% of the students experienced an earthquake and 53,8% of them experienced a flood before. It was detected that 76,1% of the students were educated about the disasters; 30,7% of them were educated by AFAD and 67,2% of them were educated at schools. It was confirmed that the students answered the questions about disasters correctly at the rate of between 20,3% and 67,6%. The students' average point of Disaster Information Level Test was 11,69±3,87. It was detected that the average point of Disaster Information Level Test of the students, who was experienced a disaster and took education of the disasters, was meaningfully higher than the other students' by the terms of statistical (p<0,05). It was detected that the average point of Disaster Information Level Test of the students, whose father's and mother's education level is primary school, was meaningfully lower than the other students' by the terms of statistical (p<0,01). It was detected that the average point of Disaster Information Level Test of the students, whose academic achievement was bad, was meaningfully lower than the students, whose academic achievement was medium, good and very good, by the terms of statistical (p<0,01). It was detected that Female Students and the students whose economical situation and academic achievement was medium, good and very good and the ones who took education of the disasters and thought that they would take the disaster education, practice the position of drop-cover-hold on quite likely in a safe place during the earthquake (p<0,05). It was detected that the students, who experienced with a disaster or took the education of disaster before, held their nose with a humid towel if it was available in case of chemical substance leak more likely than the ones who did not experience a disaster or did not take education of the disasters before (p<0,05). It was detected that the students, whose mothers worked and economic condition was medium, good and very good and the ones who took education of the disasters and thought that they would take education of the disasters, climbed high more likely if the conditions were available and there was a flood when it was compared with the other students (p<0,05). It was detected that the students, who follow the programmes related to the disasters, listened television and radio for the warnings during the flood more likely than the ones who does not follow them (p<0,05). It was detected that the students, who experienced a disaster, took education of the disaster and thought that they had enough information about disasters, waited in the close area on the available surrounding until the storm finished more likely when it was compared with the other students (p<0,05).The students, whose father's education level was primary school, academic performance was bad and the ones who experienced a disaster before, left from that environment properly during the landslide more likely when it was compared with the other students (p<0,05). Female students and the students who experienced with a disaster before and thought that they had enough information about disasters , left that environment fast during the fire more likely when it was compared with the other students (p<0,05). A meaningful very poor correlation was found between the average age of the students and Disaster Information Level Test (p<0,05). It was detected that the students' information level about the disasters was medium at the end of the research. It was confirmed that the information level of the students, who experienced a disaster and took education of the disaster, the ones whose academic achievement and parents' education level was high, was better.
