The relationship between organizational socialization and organizational identification levels and organizational citizenship behaviors of teachers working in lower secondary schools

Abstract (EN)

This research, which aims to examine the relationship between the organizational socialization and organizational identification levels of teachers working in lower secondary schools and their organizational citizenship behaviors, is a quantitative study designed in the correlation survey model. The universe of the research consists of teachers working in secondary schools in Antalya province, Alanya district in the 2020-2021 academic year. 281 of the teachers in the universe were included in the sample using the random sampling method. A questionnaire including Personal Information Form, Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale, Organizational Socialization Scale and Organizational Identification Scale was used as data collection tool in the research. The data collection tool was transferred to electronic media using Google Form and the data was collected in this way. The data were analyzed using the SPSS program, and the unrelated sample t-test and One-Dimensional Analysis of Variance (One way ANOVA) were used for comparisons between the means. The relationship between the variables was calculated with the Pearson correlation coefficient. Within the scope of the research, answers were sought for seven sub-problems and the following results were obtained as a result of the analyzes made: (1) The organizational citizenship behavior that teachers exhibit the most is altruism. (2) Teachers have the highest level of organizational socialization in the dimension of interpersonal relations. (3) Teachers have a high level of organizational identification. (4) The level of organizational citizenship behavior exhibited by teachers does not differ significantly according to gender, marital status and average length of service at school; According to the education level variable, organizational virtue sub-dimension, and according to the professional seniority variable, there is a significant difference in the sportsmanship sub-dimension. (5) Teachers' organizational socialization level does not differ significantly according to gender, marital status and education level; According to the variable of professional seniority, professional competence and the language and history of the organization, and according to the length of service at the school, there is a significant difference in the sub-dimensions of the language and history of the organization. (6) Teachers' organizational identification level does not differ significantly according to gender, marital status, education level, professional seniority and length of service at school. (7) There is a positive and moderate relationship between the level of organizational citizenship behavior exhibited by teachers and the sub-dimensions of organizational socialization and organizational identification.
