Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to evaluate the treatment results of the orthodontic transfer cases whose orthodontist has changed for any reason and whose treatment has been completed by a different physician using the American Board of OrthodonticsObjective Grading System (ABO-OGS). The study material consists of post-treatment dental casts and panoramic radiography records of 123 individuals. 59 of the records are completed by the graduating students who have completed their education and the patients are treated by two different physicians, and 64 of them are the records of patients treated by a single physician. Of the evaluated cases, 59 were non-extracted and 64 were extracted fixed orthodontic treatment. Within the scope of the study, alignment, marginal ridges, buccolingual inclination, overjet, occlusal relationship, interproximal contacts and root angulation, which are the components of the OGS index were evaluated. The average OGS scores of the transferred patient group were found to be 37,8 and 30,64 for the control group. In the cases non-extracted treatment, the average OGS score in the transferred group was 35,74 and 29,88 in the control group. In the cases extracted treatment, it was found 39,53 in the transfer group and 31,41 in the control group. The average treatment duration was 33,61 months in cases that were transferred, and 20,09 months in the control group. Patient transfer has been shown to worsen the outcome of orthodontic treatment and cause prolonged treatment in both cases with and without extraction.
