Abstract (EN)
This study aims to examine the subject of ?HIDDEN CURRICULUM? in education. As it can be easily understood from the name, the hidden curriculum is a curriculum that is not applied in schools openly. As soon as teachers and students come into the school, whatever they live falls within the borders of the hidden curriculum. Since everything which is not written in schools is the subject matter of the hidden curriculum, the scope of the topic is so large.Macro paradigms which examine the hidden curriculum look at the topic from the socialization (Functional Paradigm) and reproduction (Conflict Paradgm) angles. Beside these macro studies, micro studies (Resistence Theory) which examine the daily life in the school will also take its place in this study. This ?daily life? of the school includes everything like food times, breaks, religious rituels, registration ceremony etc. Because of that, we will have a chance to look at the hidden curriculum from ouside and inside. In addition to these paradigms, the effects of the hidden curriculum appliations to gender, race, books, official-knowledge, pyhisical enviroment and teachers will be studied from the micro and macro levels. At the end of the study, we will reach a kind of conclusion that education does not only socialize the students but also impose the culture and ideologies of the ruling classes and this situation makes the schools a battleground for different ideologies and social classes. Then, in order to get rid of the effects of hidden curriculum and impositions of the ruling classes, varied suggestions of solutions will be placed to the end of the study. Throughout the study, the ideas which dominate the subject will have a broader place naturally. Beside that, this study has been based on the reading of the English literature about the hidden curriculum. After these long and tiresome readings, there is still a big literature which could not be read because of the limited time. This unread treasure is waiting to be discovered by Turkish researchers. As readers who witness the existence and effects of the hidden curriculum throughout the paper, behaving more consciously, understanding the problems of the education system and suggesting the real solutions must be the effect of the paper.Key Words: Hidden Curriculum, Education and Ideology,Education and Ruling Class
