Özet (EN)

VI SUMMARY The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between the success and failure and the locus of control of athletes who perform orienteering and bring light on locus of control reasons which affect the success and failure of orienteering athletes. For choosing athletes to apply questionnaire, researcher was considened criterias such as the success of athletes, participation and completion of the competitions. A qualitied group of athletes were detected from the national orienteering championships in Ankara, Antalya, Bergama, Bolu, Bursa, Çanakkale, Edremit, İsparta, İstanbul ve izmir since 2001 until the day of the rearch. The aim of taking part in competitions was to detect more consistent athletes ( their success in the contest, their participation and completion the competitions ) and to get information about orienteering athletes. The sample group in this study consisted of 77 men and 1 8 licented orienteering female athletes who took part in at least 5 of the Turkey orienteering contests, which took place in Bursa on June 12,2004, and the qualifications of national team and Turkey Orienteering category contests. İn this study, the scala applied on the athletes is Wingate Sport Achievement Responsibility Scale (WSARS) for individual athletes, intravert-extravert scale which was produced by Rotter (40) in 1966, modified by Tannenbaum and Weingarten in 1984 and adapted into Turkish by Hasırcı. Apart from this scale, additional information form was employed for the athletes. The analysis of the obtained data has been evaluated in the SPSS 1 1.0 statistical package programmes using the Pearson method together with the factors which are likely to occur independent switch as WSARS measures. İn order to study whether there were statistical differences independent t test method and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) have been used. Also, cross tables the relationship of transitions with each other where hypothesis were produced and with correlation matrix has been shown and the percentage evaluation of the transition which shows remarkable differences between themselves has been carried out.vıı At the end of the study, when looked at the resolutions of WSARS points of the athletes, it has been determined that % 70,53 percent of the athletes performing orienteering were inclined to be with internal control and % 24,24 of the athletes who were successful were inclined to be with internal control. İt has been determined that there was a statistical difference at 0,05 level between the WSARS measures and the success of the athlete and his/her gender. Key words: Orienteering, attribution, locus of control, internal control, external control, success and failure.
