Ottoman-Austria war (1787-1791)

OTTOMAN-AUSTRIA WAR (1787-1791) Starting with the Mohàcs Battle with which Kanuni Sultan Suleyman captured Hungary in 1526, Ottoman – Austria relations continued till end of 17th century with Ottoman Empire's supremacy. On the other hand, Ottoman – Austria relations proceeded in countenance of Austria in 18th century. Ottoman Empire declared war against Russia in 1787 with the aim of retaking the lands which it losed with The treaty of Kuchuk Kainardji. However, Russia's ally Austria joined to that war against Ottoman Empire. A big part of Ottoman Empire fought in this war against Austria. At the beginning of the war with two battlefront, Austria was superior to Ottoman Empire but later it could not succeeded to maintain that superiority. Even making an alliance with Sweden and Prussia, it losed the war. The war ended with The Treaty of Sistova between Ottoman and Austria in 1791.
