Abstract (EN)
The economic development process of Turkey will be much more informative if it is taken into consideration with the process of capital accumulation and phases of liberalisation. In the recent studies, the development process of capitalist economy in Turkey is analysed via the changes in foreign trade policy or the class conflict. In this respect, it is hopeful that this thesis will contribute to the relevant literatüre. There are four chapters in the thesis. In the First Chapter, some fundamental studies about the history of economic development of Turkey are examined and their contents are analysed. Furthhermore these studies were compared with each other and their differences are explained. In the Second Chapter the concepts of economic development and capital accumulation were examined. The importance of each concept in theory of economics, the discussions about these two concepts and their interdependent relationship are criticised. Inthe Third Chapter, the economic development process of Turkey in the Republic Age are cathegorised into periods in relation with the phases of liberalisation and states of capital accumulation. With respect to this methodology the resaults were explained and dicussed. The main result maintained in the thesis is that each phase of liberalisation is coupled with the process of accumulation a specific type of capital. A second result is that each phase of liberalisation is determined by and result of the previous phase. The thesis, as a consequence of these findings may be reference point for future studies.
