Abstract (EN)
In this study, what was done about the science of hadith in the Ottoman period, which is a period about which there is not much information in the history of hadith, is discussed in the context of the hadith commentaries and in the framework of the 16th century. First of all, it has been examined how the hadith commentary as a science is handled in the works on the classification of sciences. For this purpose, not only the 16th century, but all the works on the classification of sciences written in the Ottoman Empire from its foundation to its collapse were examined. As a result of the researches, it has been seen that the hadith commentaries and thus the text of the hadith had a central role in hadith sciences until the 17th century, but it shifted from the text to the isnad in the 17th century and later. In this case, the 16th century, which we are considering, coincides with a period when text comprehension activities were more popular among hadith sciences. Accordingly, in this century, 35 works of various sizes belonging to 15 authors have been identified. Since most of these works are in manuscript form and there are many problems in the records in the catalogues, this number is not an exact number and will increase with further studies. However, it has enough variety and data to help draw a general profile for this period. Most of the 15 authors worked as professors, some of them held bureaucratic duties, and some of them were sheikhs. In the works written in different genres such as one hadith, forty hadith, and book commentary, there is often no isnad, and the narrations in the fiqh and tafsir books are used besides the hadith works. Most of the time, all the words in the hadith texts are explained and then the details about the subject are given, while some explanations are made only about a certain subject without entering the word explanations. In the commentaries, there are mostly explanations about the language, followed by the explanations about fiqh. Although there are views of four sects in the works, the Hanafi sect is more dominant. Asbāb al-wurūd, ikhtilaf al-hadith and hadith differences are the most frequently discussed hadith sciences. Although the number of Sufi hadith commentaries in the commentaries is low, information about Sufism is frequently encountered in the works. Although there are references to Ibn al-Arabi and Konevi, philosophical-mystical interpretations is rare and language, fiqh and theology-centered interpretations in accordance with madrasah education are in abundance.
