Role of the Balkan Committee in Ottoman-British relations

The Ottoman - Russian War (1877-1878) and the Treaties of Ayastefanos and Berlin, which were signed after this war, led to the beginning of very important process in the political life of the Ottoman Empire. During the period until World War I, the Great Powers provoked the Balkan countries and Armenians in the Eastern Anatolia, by pretending the 23rd and 61st articles of the Berlin Treaty and carried out activities against the Ottoman Empire for their own political purposes. The Buxton Brothers established London-based Balkan Committee in 1903 to protect British interests in the Balkans and the Eastern Anatolia. In this study, the activities of the Balkan Committee and the Buxton Brothers against the Ottoman Empire during the period starting from 1903 until the World War I were examined, and the effects of these activities on the Ottoman Empire were tried to be answered.
