The development process of non-commissioned officer in the ottoman army and their role in the perception of the army, discipline and obedience (1826-1914)

This research is a study aimed at understanding the duties and responsibilities of the class of military officers known as "astsubay," referred to as "küçük zabit" during the Ottoman Empire. Investigating the historical trajectory of the non- commissioned officer, which can be defined as a cog in the wheels of the power mechanism monopolized by the state, the research explores their workloads in early inscriptions and investigates their ranks and duties within the Ottoman State. Efforts have been made to explain points of change and transformation. As a matter of fact, this study was written with the aim of creating a basis for emphasizing the strengths of military organizations and understanding their weak points, based on the Ottoman army. By optimizing leadership models through non-commissioned officers, it will contribute to developing training programs and adapting to development.
