Çankırı madrasas and instructors in the Ottoman madrasa system

With the aid of this study, the place and importance of the Madrasas obtaining the nature of higher education institution are investigated in the Ottoman education and teaching system. The aim of this study is to determine the Madrasas and instructors dwelling in Çankırı?(Kengırı) county located into the province Kastamonu in the duration from the beginning to collapse of the Ottoman Empire. The Madrasas of 31 and instructors of 53 were found in Çankırı. Among these instructors, it is possible to meet Dersiams. The information given for the Madrasas and instructors located into Çankırı is important (serves as important characteristics) for both the Ottoman education system and the history of Çankırı.In this study, it is also identified that which staffs were in the madrasas located into Çankırı. It is specified that how much is charged for the staffs servicing in the madrasas, especially the instructors, and what period of time and which madrasas they work. Moreover, it is tried to determine the foundations connected to the madrasas, the trustees in charge of the madrasas and foundations, the structure of the madrasa buildings, the owner of the madrasa, the expenses of the madrasa, the commodities, lands, goods, shops and the other incomes dedicated by the charities to supply the expenses.When the universities constitute the basis of the today's higher education system, the brains of the system consist of the university instructors. These concepts (university and instructor) are related to the expressions of "Madrasa and Instructors? in the Ottoman Education System. This study is an important feature for the observation of the historical development of today's higher education system and the contributions to nowadays. Hence, based on the finds obtained, it is considered that this study clarifies the certain issues related to the today?s history of education and thought.
