Abstract (EN)

Woman is elegance, grace, the silhouette of the body, and a mother who is inside of the life where gracefulness appears totally, a worker, a proletarian. Therefore, women's clothing which is wondered in their social life is specifically important. When it is said 'clothing', the shape of a casual clothe on us only should not be considered. Clothing cap-a-pie always reflects to the life as appearance of stance and character. It should not be forgotten that from shoes which human wears to the accessory is aesthetic and a personality. In this work, it is explained that with the Tanzimat Period in 19th century, westernization term is seen in Ottoman territory as a fact, Europe fashion and culture was a beginning of a new style in woman clothing, the events which happened during this period and their sides which reflects to Ottoman society. Furthermore, in this period when the woman opened up to a new view worldwide, it has been seen that from clothing to the women's magazines, from working area to the self-knowledge process, the steps for a new period for Ottoman women were started, and the sides of modernization which reflects to the Ottoman has been explained.
