Analysis of the relationship between culture and job performance in hotel employees with Hofstede model: Turkey-Austria comparison

Abstract (EN)

Organizational culture guides the attitudes and behaviors of employees in organizational life. Perceived culture in the organizational environment can also affect the job performance of employees. The relationship between organizational culture dimensions and job performance in different samples may differ. In this context, the aim of the study is to examine the relationship between culture and organizational performance in hotel employees with the Hofstede model. The sample of the study consisted of 554 hotel employees (277 Turkey, 277 Austria) who were taken by simple non-selective sampling method. The jop performance scale and Hofstede culture dimensions scale were used to gather the data in the research. Data obtained by data collection tools were entered into computer environment as numerical expression and statistical analyses were made using the statistical package program for Social Sciences (SPSS 25). According to the findings of our research, power distance, uncertainty avoidance, individualism-pluralism, long-term attunement dimensions are correlated with job performance for both samples, while only the Austrian sample shows relationship for masculinity-femininity dimension.
