Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to examination the communicative functions of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The working group of the research is composed of twenty children with ASD and their mothers. Communicative Function Observation Form (CFOF) which is used to determine the communicative functions of children with ASD. Parental Behavior Rating Scale – Turkish Version (EDDO-TV; Diken, 2009), to identify the interactional behaviors of the mothers, and Gilliam Autism Rating Scale -2- Turkish Version (GARS-2-TV; İ.H. Diken, Ardıç and O. Diken 2011) to determine the scores of Autistic Index (AI) are used. According to the results, during mother-child interaction, it has been determined that they have exhibited the functions of communication as listed according to the frequency of display; directive follow-up (361), approval (175), rejecting an action (96), requesting an object (67), rejecting an object (48), interpreting a situation (28), requesting an action (27), answering a question (23), interpreting an event (2), requesting information (1). At the same time, it was found that there is a positive relationship between parental interaction behaviors' being achievement-oriented, and the diversity and frequency of communication functions but a negative relationship is discovered between the level of being affected of ASD and the diversity of communication functions.
