Mental health promotion status of workers employed at auto industrial sites

This descriptive study was conducted to determine the mental health promotion status of workers employed at an auto industrial site. The study was conducted with 332 workers employed at an auto industrial site located in Istanbul between June 2024 and August 2024. Data were collected using the "Personal Information Form" and the "Mental Health Promotion Scale." The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 22.0. Frequency and percentage analyses were used to identify the descriptive characteristics of the participants, while mean and standard deviation statistics were used to examine the scale scores. To assess differences in scale scores based on participants' characteristics, independent samples t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and post hoc analyses were performed. The mean total score on the Mental Health Promotion Scale was 191.858±28.428, with scores ranging from 95 to 235. Overall, participants demonstrated a high level of mental health promotion, with particularly high scores in the subdimensions of values (18.28±2.73), friendships (19.58±4.76), communication (23±5.39), and personal development (25.91±4.10). The total and subdimension scores of the scale significantly differed according to sociodemographic variables. No statistically significant differences were found in relation to weekly working hours, the physical impact of the job, use of personal protective equipment or history of occupational accidents (p>0.05), suggesting weaker associations in these areas. However, mental health promotion levels were found to be higher among those with longer professional experience, vocational training, non-smokers, individuals not receiving psychological support or treatment, those who perceived their health as good, and those in older age groups (p<0.05).
