TUBULAR L NEAR INDUCTION MOTOR DESIGNFOR AUTOMATIC DOORS(M.Sc. Thesis)Mustafa EKMEKÇGAZ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYSeptember 2006ABSTRACTToday, motion in automatic door systems is realized by means of a mechanismset up by a motor providing circular motion and a belt system that the motoractivates. However, some problems are encountered in these systems. Fasterthroughput, more exact positioning, longer life and fewer moving parts areactually needed in such systems. In this study, so as to obtain these utilities, thealternative use of tubulor linear induction motors instead of circular motionmotors has been proposed and a linear induction motor has been designed andapplied. At the designing stage, Ansoft Maxwell electromagnetic simulationprogram has been utilized. Different from other motor types, a stator with partshas been used in the design and therefore the design has been arranged in away that the defective windings can easily be removed without giving any harmto other windings. The experimental applications and studies have shown thatthe motor performance is sufficient and it can be used in some types of linearapplications.Science Code : 703.3.012Key Words : Tubular Linear Motor, Automatic DoorsPage Number : 34Adviser : Asist.
