Abstract (EN)
A blood test to determine whether there is an infection agent in the blood is called blood culture. The purpose of blood culture is to determine which types of fungi or bacteria are present in the blood. This method is especially used in the diagnosis of diseases such as meningitis, osteomyelitis, arthritis, endocarditis, peritonitis, pneumonia and unknown cause fever. Infection in the blood; tremors, low or high fever, rapid breathing, increased pulse or palpitations, Novartis manifests itself with. As a result of this sepsis may occur events that progress to confusion in the mind, decreased urine, dizziness, headache, skin rash and even organ failure. Of these findings resides in a fast and accurate way of diagnosis for the patient's treatment must be determined. To make this diagnosis, it is imperative that physicians prompt blood culture without wasting time. With the rapid reporting of blood cultures taken in timely and appropriate conditions, the treatment of the patient diagnosed with sepsis is directed and the patient's survival is ensured. For this reason, blood culture is the most important and easy method for detecting infections in which blood plays a role. The blood culture method ensures the detection of bacterial or fungal microorganisms. It also provides an advantage to the determination of antimicrobial susceptibility of detected pathogens. In our study, the incubation period of 5 days determined for the negative result in standard blood culture methods was extended; Haemophilus spp., Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, Cardiobacterium hominis, Eikenella corrodens and Kingella spp. It is intended to detect difficult-to-reproduce bacteria such as HACEK. 500 aerop and/or anerop blood culture bottles were loaded into an automated blood culture device (BD, Bactec Fx, USA) from patients in various clinics of Euphrates University Hospital to Microbiology Laboratory. After loading blood culture bottles into the automotic blood culture device, 500 aerop and/or anaerop blood culture bottles were evaluated in terms of HACEK group bacteria, resulting in negative results at the end of five (5) days of Standard positive signaling period during the incubation period. Gram staining was done by preparing preparations from negative blood culture bottles. According to Gram staining results, blood culture bottles with no bacteria were subjected to an additional incubation period of 72 hours at 35-37°c etluvde. At the end of this period, reproduction was detected in five (5) (1%) of blood cultures, while reproduction was not detected in 495 (99%). One in five specimens with reproduction; Kingella kingae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus epidermitidis, Candida glabrata were produced. This result is determined in the standard guidelines 5 days of reproduction period in some cases (difficult to reproduce bacteria, lack of the amount of microorganisms in the blood v.P. depending on such reasons) indicate that it is inadequate. Therefore, long studies are needed to reconsider the incubation period determined for the negative result. Keywords: HACEK, Blood cult
