Abstract (EN)

III PRODUCTION PLANNING IN AUTOMATIC MACHINES (M. Sc. Thesis) Ulvi ŞEKER GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY February 1988 ABSTRACT In single-spindle and mechanically controlled automatic machines, the performance of the machine can be highly improved by the application of new technology. In this study, the main principles of production planning, for automatics machines are investigated. In mechanically controlled automatic machinery, the tool movements in realizing the operation and the control of the other necessary motions are governed by cams. Since the design and construction of cams differ for each piece to be manufactured, the machine preparation is considerably long. In addition, during the tool set up, there is loss of material and time. To ease the solution of these problems computer programs have been prepared for the computer aided design of cams and special templates have been designed and constructed for the tool set up. Utilization of the computer and the specially prepared templates has decreased the period of machine preparation for production. The results have been tested in the TRAUB TO 26 machine available in the departmant.
