Abstract (EN)
This study was to investigated the effects of oestrogen and vitamin E onthe haematological parameters, plazma lipid and lipid peroxidation levels in ratswith ovariectomyzed and diabetes mellitus. For this purpose, 70 Wistar Albinofemale rats were allocated to 7 groups, i.e. group 1 ( Control), group 2(Ovariectomy and Diabetes), group 3 (Ovariectomy + Diabetes + Oestrogen),group 4 (Ovariectomy + Diabetes + Oestrogen + Vitamin E), group 5(Ovariectomy), group 6 (Ovariectomy + Oestrogen), group 7 (Ovariectomy +Oestrogen + Vitamin E).3. and 6 were administered 40 μg / kg/ day oestrogen ( 17β estradiol)alone, 4. and 7 40 μg / kg/ day oestrogen 100 mg/kg/day and vitamin E 28days.Blood glucose levels was a significant increased (p<0.05) in the 2.group, However it was a significant reduction (p<0.05) after oestrogen alone in3. group or in combination with vitamin E administration in 4. groupTotal cholesterol, LDL, and VLDL cholesterol and triglyceride levelswere significantly increased (p<0.05) but HDL level was decreased due to theeffect diabetes of in group 2. In groups 3 and 4, while HDL level wassignificantly increased (p<0.05) the levels of total cholesterol, LDL, and VLDLcholesterol and triglyceride levels were significantly reduced (p<0.05) becauseof the effects of oestrogen and vitamin E. In group 5, HDL level wassignificantly increased (p<0.05) whereas total cholesterol, LDL, and VLDLcholesterol and triglyceride levels were significantly reduced (p<0.05). It wasfound that in groups 6 and 7 HDL level was significantly increased, in contrast, all other lipid levels were significantly increased (p<0.05) by the actions ofoestrogen and vitamin E.It was found plasma and erythrocyte MDA levels to increase significant(p<0.05) in group 2 due to diabetes whereas to decreased significant (p<0.05)in group 4 by the effect of vitamin E and oestrogen administrations.Additionally, although MDA level in group 5 was increased its level wasreduced meaningfully (p<0.05) in group 7 oestrogen and vitamin E. In groups3 and 6 received oestrogen, there was no statistically significantly change inplasma and erythrocyte MDA levels.HbA1c levels was a significant increased (p<0.05) in group 2 due todiabetes however its was a significantly decreased (p<0.05) in groups 2, 3 and 4by the actions of oestrogen and vitamin E administrations. It was found statistically insignificant difference in erythrocyte countand hemoglobin amount in all groups. While hematocrit value was increased 2and 5 that was decreased (p<0.05) in groups 3, 4, 6 and 7.Leucocyte numbers were increased (p<0.05) in ovariectomyzed anddiabetic groups 2, 3 and 4 as compared to just ovariectomyzed groups 5, 6 andIn conclusion the result of the current study showed that the riskatherosclerosis resulting from deteriorated lipid and lipid peroxidation profilesin ovariektomized and diabetic rats can be reduced by the administrationoestrogen and vitamin E.Key words: Diabetes, Ovariectomy, lipid profiles, HbA1c, Oestrogen, VitaminE and Lipid peroxidation.
