The use of "Stylization and "Deformation" methods as an aproach in the search of the actor and a practice

The diversity that emerged in the practices and performances of the 21st Century Contemporary Theatre brings the search for new forms of acting together with it. The actors/actresses who try to create a new acting style are experiencing some difficulties about which methods of acting they would prefer at this point. In this thesis study, it has been investigated whether the Stylization and Deformation methods can be used as an approach to enrich the physical expression possibilities of the actor/actress and to help the actor/actress to recreate his / her style. The study is divided into two parts as theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, the concept of physicality, its origin and development processes were examined with various aspects, Stylization and Deformation methods were investigated and a new method proposal was created for acting. In the practical part, ''Antigone "play of Sofhokles was chosen as the practice text. The Stylization and Deformation method which was presented as a proposal in the theory section was applied on three stages which were determined in the play. In the research method, the way of use of the sources of the plastic arts by adapting to acting is preferred but not the way of using stylization and deformation models, the sources of theatre art.
