Abstract (EN)

The news of violence against women presented in the media creates the society's perspective on violence against women within the scope of the elements they contain. In the last 3 years, important studies have been carried out in Uzbekistan on violence against women. But in the field of media, there is almost no work done as a written press. In the study, the approach to the phenomenon of women, their contribution to the prevention of violence and raising awareness, and the dimensions of impartiality while presenting the news of violence against women of national newspapers in Uzbekistan were examined. In the study, news of violence against women in 2022 from 5 national newspapers with high circulation in Uzbekistan were scanned and content analysis, semiotic analysis method and interview and triangulation technique were used within the scope of qualitative research method. As a result of the research, while news about 178 women were published in 5 national newspapers of Uzbekistan in 2022, 11 of them were about violence against women. Since the news of violence against women belongs to the party and parliament, national newspapers publish news in a political direction. In addition, there is little news about violence against women due to the sensitivity of the subject, the incomplete information about the cases and the negative consequences that may arise. National newspapers of Uzbekistan reflect informative, opinion-forming news. In Uzbekistan, it is seen as a shortcoming that national newspapers present news on violence against women in the form of a column, a single column and only awareness raising.
