Abstract (EN)

The earth has a fragile structure consisting of a combination of many plate fragments. These plates move continuously along the horizontal and vertical axis. As a result of this movement, energy is imparted between the pieces of the plate coming together or departing from each other. The energy that accumulates between these plates will discharge as it reaches a certain level. Fractures that occur on the earth during the energy output are called faults. Our country is located on highly active fault lines in terms of earthquake, it is very important to construct earthquake resistant structures against the seismic events. Earthquakes in the past years caused large-scale loss of life and structures made it necessary to take precautions. The regulations of updated codes enforced the quality of engineering service to account for the design of new structures. It is proposed that the existing structures should be renewed or strengthened to ensure that they could meet the requirements of the seismic codes. Accordingly, laws encouraging the urban transformation have been placed. In the first part of the thesis, introduction to the subject, purpose of the study, explanation of the factors that are essential for the study and the relationship with the structure are explained. In the second chapter; the system information that constitutes the type used in the study, the account model, the loads, and the program used in the model. In the third chapter; nonlinear analysis results were collected for the current structure. The displacements, storey drifts and storey shear forces results compared for bare condition and braced condition. Fragility curves have been obtained for the building model. Information about the method used to obtain the fragility curves is given. The analytical results of the fragility curves were compared for bare condition and braced condition. In the last section; the overall results of the study were included. Keywords: Strengthening, Fragility Curves, Earthquake Performance.
