Abstract (EN)
The overall objective of this study is to define the effectiveness of the education designed in line with what they are able to do through special educational consultancy in achievement of the goals of students with lower academic performance. The study also includes a social validity scale for teachers. The design of the study is the rotating practices design that is tailored from single-subject experimental designs.Subjects of the study are two third-grade students who attend separate classes in Nurcin Sayan Primary School in the academic year of 2008?2009.A teachers? interview form, checklists for Life Sciences, Mathematics and Turkish Language classes, Detailed Evaluation Measurement Tools for ?Clock-Reading? and ?the Life of Ataturk? and a social validity for were developed and used to collect research data.Graphical analysis was made in analysis of the data obtained through the research.Findings of the research are as follows;?The education designed in line with what they are able to do through special educational consultancy enabled students with lower performances to achieve their goals in the disciplines of the Mathematics and Life Sciences.?The education designed in traditional methods did not enable any student with lower performances to achieve their goals in the disciplines of the Mathematics and Life Sciences. However it enabled the student 1 to achieve the goals.?The education designed in line with what they are able to do through special educational consultancy is more effective than the education designed in traditional methods in achievement of the goals of students with lower performances in the disciplines of the Mathematics and Life Sciences.?One can have the impression that the education designed in line with what they are able to do through special educational consultancy is effective in enabling students to generalize their achieved goals in disciplines of Life Sciences and the Mathematics into different venues and individuals..?Teachers involved in this study expressed positive views on practicality of the education designed in line with what they are able to do through special educational consultancy.Immediate intervention to the students with lower academic performances through special educational consultancy, definition of their abilities and needs and designing the education in line with these abilities and needs may enable them to make progress in their disciplines.Furthermore, it is considered that the special educational consultancy does not only ensure students with lower performance to achieve their goals but also provides an increase in the willingness of students to participate in the class and allows teachers to observe the students and to change their attitude and eliminate their anxieties. In the light of the findings above, recommendations have been provided concerning the education designed in line with what they are able to do through special educational consultancy and the possible scientific researches in the future.
