Therapeutic influence of music on kids who need special education

Music has accompanied people's lives in almost every aspect of life and has now become almost an integral part of their lives. This quality is undoubtedly based on music's ability to touch people, influence them and quickly transport them to other dimensions. Over the centuries, music has entered different countries and cultures, has been used as a treatment tool, and in some cases, although it cannot be understood due to language differences, it has become a universal structure with its emotions and feelings. The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of music education on the developmental characteristics of children with special education needs. Music education helps children with special education needs to socialize and motivate themselves, develop hand and eye coordination skills, find a place in a group, solve their problems through collaborative learning, improve their cognitive, affective, mental, linguistic and psychomotor development, integrate knowledge into their lives. The development they provide is to raise people who are sensitive and interested in their environment. It contributes to the development of a sense of responsibility and shows an important dimension of music education in children with special education needs. This research, which is a qualitative study based on a descriptive model, addresses the developmental contributions of music education for various disability groups. Unfortunately, the lack of studies on the concept of music education and special education in our country makes this research valuable in terms of making a new contribution to this field. In this context, it is hopeful that the study sheds light on the literature and future studies.
