The aim of this study is to examine the emotions of special education school teachers in terms of some variables on the state of belonging to their profession and to provide several implications for the differences depending upon the status of the teachers working as permanent, retired casual and casual staff. As a descriptive study, dependent variables of this research were the feelings of special education school teachers on the state of belonging to their profession. Besides, variables on the state of belonging to profession of teachers such as status, age, gender, marital status, educational status, years in profession, branch, type of school, status on special education service training, selection status of the profession willingly and years in current school level were used as independent variables. However, the thoughts and proposals affecting the state of belonging of teachers to their own professions about the discrimination of the teacher status as permanent, retired casual and casual staff was examined. In this study, a total of 935 teachers working in 89 special education schools from European and Asian sides of Istanbul were selected as the study sample by using cluster-sampling method. In order to analyze the data, t-test for independent samples and one-way anova (ANOVA) were used. Results from this study indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in the state of belonging to profession of teachers according to the variables such as years in current school. The results also demonstrated that teachers? feelings on the state of belonging to their profession varied significantly in terms of the status, status, age, gender, marital status, educational status, years in profession, branch, type of school, status on special education service training and selection status of the profession willingly. Finally, thanks to these findings, some proposals that may be realized in the future as scientific researches about the state of of belonging to profession and discrimination of the status.
