Evaluation of quality of li̇fe and depression between physiotherapist working in hospital, special education rehabilitation centers and in-service teachers

The aim of our study is to evaluate physiotherapists among themselves and with teachers in terms of pain, quality of life and depression. Fifty (50) participants of the study were choosen from special education and rehabilitation centers and physiotherapists who work at hospitals and fifty (50) teachers who are still in-service. In our survey; Visual Pain Scale (VAS) was used to evaluate pain, Beck Depression Questionnaire was utilized to evaluate depression and EQ-5D Questionnaire was used to evaluate the quality of life. Results of the study revealed that there was no statistically significant difference (p>0.05) in terms of depression and pain mean scores between the groups when both in-service teachers and physiotherapists mean scores of pain, quality of life and depression were evaluated. On the other hand, statistically significant difference was found between teachers and phsiotherapists in terms of quality of life (p<0.05). That is to say, teachers quality of life was found to be higher than physiotherapists. Also the study found that there wasn't any statistically significant difference among the physiotherapist with regard to mean scores of pain, quality of life and depression based on place in which they work (p>0.05). Additionally, the study found that teachers quality of life was statistically higher than physiotherapists and there wasn't any statistically significant difference between teachers mean scores of depression and pain. Therefore, it was found out that physiotherapist profession influences the quality of life much badly comparison to teaching profession.
